Seminyak has long been the epicentre of Bali’s sophisticated dining scene, and the annual Seminyak Food and Wine Festival is its definitive celebration — a four-day gastronomic event that showcases the extraordinary depth and diversity of food culture on the island, from traditional Balinese village cooking to international fine dining at the highest level.

The festival takes over several of Seminyak’s most celebrated venues simultaneously: beachfront terraces, boutique hotel gardens, and the rooftop bars that have made this neighbourhood famous. The programme balances accessible public events with more exclusive intimate experiences, ensuring there’s something compelling regardless of your budget or culinary background.

Cooking demonstrations by Bali’s most celebrated chefs are a cornerstone of the programme. These sessions typically run for 90 minutes, covering single dishes in comprehensive technical detail — from sourcing ingredients at the market through preparation, cooking technique, and plating — followed by a tasting of the finished dish. Past demonstrations have featured traditional Balinese ceremonial cooking, modern Indonesian fine dining, Japanese-Indonesian fusion, and plant-based cuisine.

The wine programme draws on Bali’s excellent selection of international importers, bringing wines from small producers in France, Italy, Spain, Australia, and South Africa that are rarely seen outside specialist wine bars. Sommelier-led vertical tastings, food and wine pairing dinners, and natural wine exhibitions add depth for serious enthusiasts.

Local artisan food producers — Balinese honey, hand-made tempeh, artisanal salt from Amed, organic turmeric paste, and small-batch Bali Arak rice spirit — occupy a dedicated marketplace where direct purchasing and producer conversations are the main attraction.
